As a Vimeo Pro, Business, Premium or Enterprise member, you can invite team members to your account to help upload and manage your videos and collections.
Pro members can add up to 3 team members to their account and Vimeo Business and Premium members can add up to 10. If you are Enterprise, the number of team members you can add is determined based on your contract; please contact your account manager if you have questions about this.
Note for Enterprise Accounts: If you enable SSO on your Vimeo account, you can use SAML or SCIM to add and remove individual team members as well as groups. If you don’t have SSO and/or SCIM configured, contact your account manager for more information.

Team member types
There are four permission types for team members: uploaders, viewers, contributors, and admins. All types will need to make their own Vimeo account in order to be able to join a team.
Uploaders
Note for Enterprise Accounts: Since Enterprise accounts include more specific permissions for team members, including folder-specific permissions and a private workspace for each team member, the uploader role is no longer available.
Uploaders only upload videos to your account. On their upload page, they will be able to toggle between uploading videos to their own account and uploading videos to the team account.
Uploaders will only be able to edit the title and description of the video while it is being uploaded to your account. Any videos an uploader adds to your account will have the privacy setting Only Me, but as the account owner, you can change the video's privacy setting after upload.
Note: Uploaders will need to make sure they select the correct account from their upload page.

Uploaders do not have any access to the team account otherwise. They cannot view or edit the video after they've uploaded it nor can they access any settings for the team account.
Viewers
Viewers can be invited to specific folders, as an individual or part of a group, within your account, but they will have limited access to the contents of those folders. They can access the review page, leave notes, and share videos that are within those folders. They can also access Showcases and the videos organized into Showcases.
They do not have the ability to upload, edit, publish, or access any other settings or areas of your account that are meant for working members on the team account.
When a Viewer is added to a folder as a part of a group that only has Viewer access, the Viewer will likewise only have viewing permissions. However, if a Viewer at the account level is part of a group that is given Contributor access to that folder, that team member will still only have viewing permissions.

Notes for Enterprise accounts:
- If you add a Viewer to a folder that has subfolders, the team member will also have access to the contents of the subfolders.
- Viewers on Enterprise teams do not have access to manage videos; they will only see them via the team’s branded home page.
- If you have a large number of users that you'd like to grant viewer status to, you can provide us with a CSV of their email addresses that we can add on your behalf. To do this, reach out to your account manager.
- You can also grant viewer access by specifying a domain for SSO. Viewers that you are intending to access via SSO will not receive an email. Learn more about setting up SSO here.
Contributors
Contributors can be invited, as an individual or part of a group, to access a specific folder within your account. They’ll have the ability to upload, edit, review, share, and publish videos within a folder, but won’t have access to any of your other folders or areas of your account. A contributor also won’t be able to change the title of a folder, delete a folder, or delete a video from the owner's account, unless it is a video that they have uploaded themselves. They can view settings of a video in that folder as well as the analytics tab, which has numbers from the past 30 days but won't have access to advanced analytics for the video.
Once in the Video Manager, Contributors will only be able see the folders to which they have been invited.

When an account Contributor on an Enterprise account is added to a folder as a part of a group that only has Viewer access, the Contributor will likewise only have viewing permissions to that folder unless they are also given Contributor access to the folder as an individual. However, if they are added to a folder as part of a group that has Contributor access, they will then have editing permissions.
Please note, if you add a Contributor to a folder that has subfolders, the team member will also have access to the contents of the subfolders.
Contributors can also use various aspects of Vimeo Create when switched into their team account. They can view, create, and edit all drafts on the team account.
In addition, contributors on a Premium or Enterprise account can access settings of an archived live event within the folder to which they contribute. Contributors can start a live event to Vimeo if they are using an external encoder via RTMP (after the Owner or Admin creates an event and provides the Contributor with the RTMP URL and Stream Key). Take note that if the Vimeo account is connected to other social accounts such as Facebook, then any live events the Contributor starts from their encoder will also simulcast to that destination.
Contributors on Enterprise accounts can also be appointed as a ‘Folder Admin’ by an Admin team member or the Team Owner via the folder share modal in the upper right section of the page, when viewing a folder.

Assigning a Contributor to the role of Folder Admin will grant the team member permission to delete any videos within the folder from the team account, as well as permission to invite other team members to the folder.
A Contributor can be assigned to the Folder Admin role in a main folder or in a subfolder. When a Contributor is assigned as a Folder Admin in a top-level folder, they will also have admin permissions in all of the subfolders that live within that folder. But when a Contributor is assigned as a Folder Admin in a subfolder, they will only have admin permissions in that particular subfolder.
Admins
Admins can help you upload and manage all your videos, folders, and collections.
Admins will not be able to access your account settings or payment information.
Admins have access to the following features:
- Creating, managing, and deleting collections
- Creating, managing, and deleting folders, including subfolders on Enterprise accounts
- Changing the privacy settings of your videos
-
Creating, managing, and deleting videos from any folder they are added to as a group member, regardless of that group’s permission (Enterprise accounts)
- Please note however that Admins and Owners cannot access their team members’ private workspace folders.
- Move a video from a shared folder to their own Private to Me workspace
- Viewing advanced analytics of your videos
- Deleting your videos
- Access the team settings in the team switcher dropdown menu.
-
Use various aspects of Vimeo Create when switched into team account
- View, create, and edit all drafts on the team account
- Admin team members can view, share, and download all saved videos
-
Share a folder with the entire team or company, if team account is an Enterprise account
-
Please note that when a folder is shared to the 'All' group, that group will only be able to view the contents of the shared folder.
-
Please note that when a folder is shared to the 'All' group, that group will only be able to view the contents of the shared folder.
Admins on Premium and Enterprise accounts can additionally do the following:
- Create live events
- Adjust privacy settings, embed customization, and interaction tool settings for live events
- Stream to live events using WebRTC, RTMP from an external encoder, or by logging into Livestream Studio.
- End live events
- Export chat transcripts
Only Owners (i.e. the main email associated with the account, which was used to sign up and purchase) can do the following:
- Edit and organize the account's profile page
- Delete a draft or video made with Vimeo Create
- Access Simulcast settings
- Authenticate most API-integrated encoders and applications
- This refers to encoders that allow you to connect to Vimeo by logging in to account directly from the software or application (e.g. Mevo, Vimeo mobile app, or other third-party direct integrations)
- Exception: Livestream Studio does allow team admins to log in and go live.
- Delete live events
- Access Developer API and create and manage developer apps for their account
Adding a team member to your account
To add a team member, click the "Manage Team" tab in your Account Settings. You’ll see all your existing team members on this page (by default, it’s just you listed there). Click the "+ Add team member" link on the right side of the page, and a module will pop up. You’ll need to enter your team member’s email address, then select Uploader, Contributor, or Admin from the dropdown menu. For Contributors, you’ll need to select the folder they’ll be working out of before you send the invite.
You can also add a Contributor directly to a folder from your Video Manager. Select the folder you want to add a contributor to, click the + icon (between your profile picture and the Video Manager search bar) to pull up a menu that shows all the team members currently on the folder (by default, it’s just you). Click “Add,” type in the email address of the Contributor, then hit the “Send” button to invite them to your folder.
If you’re on the go, you can also manage your team and invite new members via the Vimeo iOS app or the Vimeo Android app on your mobile device.
Pro tip: enter the email address associated with their existing Vimeo account if they have one!

Accepting an invitation to join a team
Any person you invite to be an Uploader, Viewer, Contributor, or Admin to your account will need to log into their own Vimeo account or create a Vimeo account (if they don’t have one) before they can accept your invitation. Make sure the email address you invite matches the email address your team member uses to create an account.
After you (the account owner) send the invite, the team member will appear in your team list with a status of “Pending.” If the person you’ve added still hasn’t responded to your invite, you can send them a reminder. Hover over the “Pending” status and click the “Send reminder” link that appears. We will also send them a reminder automatically if they have not responded within 24 hours
If your team member is having trouble receiving the invite email, you can send them a direct invite URL by hovering over the Pending status and clicking “Copy invite link” and sending it directly to your team member. Please note that this link is unique to each individual team member, so it can’t be used to invite others to the account. Once a team member accepts the invitation, the “Copy invite link” option will not appear any longer.
Private workspaces for Enterprise Teams
Enterprise team admins and contributors will be given their own private workspace on the team account, which is a private folder that other team members cannot access. Team members with ‘Viewer’ access will not have this folder.

When a team member uploads a new video, makes a recording, or saves a Zoom meeting to Vimeo, the video will be added to their private workspace first for them to fully update any settings before moving the video to the desired folder. Enterprise team members can also use this space to work on their own content.
Team owners will not be able to access their team members’ private folders; however, if you remove a team member from your account, all of the videos in their workspace will move from their private folder to your video manager’s root folder.
Team members’ uploads and recordings will go to the private folder by default unless another folder is chosen or the upload process is starting from a specific folder. You cannot share or invite others into this folder, and no user can delete their Private folder.
Please note that while team owners and Admins can move videos from a shared folder into their Private to Me workspace, Contributors cannot do the same.
Removing a team member from your account
You can revoke a team member’s access to your Vimeo account at any time by clicking the gray “X” at the end of the member’s row on the Manage Team page. Only the account owner has the ability to remove team members from an account, but admins can remove contributors from a folder.
Changing account ownership
If you need to change the owner of a team account, then follow these steps:
- Change the account password of the main account to a temporary one that you can give to your team member who you want to take over the team account.
- Remove the account you’d like to add as the primary account holder from the team.
- Once it’s no longer listed as a team member, delete that account completely from Vimeo, as each account can only be linked to one email address. (Alternatively, they could change the email address on that account to a different email).
- Once the deleted account is no longer associated with any Vimeo accounts, you’ll be able to change the email on the team account to that email address. Here's how to do that:
- Log in to the team account (via the current primary email), and head to your Account Settings page.
- Click the Edit button next to your current email address on that page, and you will be prompted to enter your new email.
After you change the email address associated with your Vimeo account, a notification email will be sent to both the old and new email addresses.
Once that is done, you can hand the new credentials off to the team member and they can log into the account and update the temporary password. Make sure to have them update the billing information as well if needed.
